What’s the Best Way to Have Cross-Sector Conversations? Thoughts from San Antonio

What our partners in San Antonio have learned from their work in The Integration Initiative so far.

Last April, five new sites from the southern and western U.S. joined the existing partners in The Integration Initiative (TII). Albuquerque, New Orleans, San Antonio, San Francisco and Seattle/ King County will apply the principles of collective impact to increase opportunities for low-income people.

Living Cities and our partners learned a lot from the first round of TII – and know we still have room to grow. In the second round, we’ve committed to a developmental evaluation approach. We will be refine what we are doing – and sharing our learning – as we go.

With that in mind, we asked the directors of our new site partners to share what they are learning as a part of TII.

Here, Initiative Director Jeanne Russell shares her reflections on what San Antonio has learned about creating an economically mixed community in the EastPoint neighborhood.

Having wkd in the CED field since 1988, I view this “lessons learned” story as premature, as it is at the very beginning of a 5-yr process, in addition to understanding that this is a “place-making” project, which will be declared a “success” nonetheless just by spending around $35 million. That’s the only paradigm around, never mind that there are other paradigm-shifting alternatives which can do much more in human capital terms than focusing on the physical elements of a community, as nice as that will be for the area residents.

Definitely believe that which you stated. Your favorite justification seemed to be on the internet the simplest thing to be aware of.

I say to you, I definitely get irked while people consider worries that they just do not know about.

You managed to hit the nail upon the top and also defined out the whole thing
without having side effect , people can take a signal.
Will likely be back to get more. Thanks
